The Layered Look...

The Newest Tissue Fashion, Now Available From CityForest!

Layering, a mainstay of the newest fashions is also a big part of our innovative approach to tissue making at the New CityForest. CityForest is one of just a handful of parent roll producers around the world that can offer you a two-layered tissue product.

What is layered tissue?  Give me an example.

Two-layered tissue should not be confused with two-ply tissue.  In two-layered tissue we can create a single ply of tissue that has one type of fiber on the top surface and another type of fiber on the lower surface.

An example of the two-layer tissue would be one in which soft eucalyptus fibers are used to form the top layer while a lower cost recycled fiber blend is used to form the bottom layer on the same ply of tissue.  In most cases a two-ply product will be made from two of these two-layer sheets.  The recycled layers will be placed together in the winding or converting process.  The end-use customer will then see and feel just the soft eucalyptus layers.

Today one of CityForest's customers uses our two-layer capabilities to provide a lower cost, dust-free shop towel for use in body shops as the final wiper used just before a car is painted.  Another application explored is in medical drape materials. The recycled layer would be laminated to a poly on one side leaving the virgin layer exposed on the other side.

What are the advantages to this kind of two-layer formation?

From the example above, you would receive a two-ply sheet that for all intents and purposes will look and feel like 100% eucalyptus.  In reality, 50% of the fiber in this two-ply product will be recycled post-consumer sources.  The result: a product that satisfies your end-use customers' most demanding visual and hand-feel requirements at less cost and with an environmentally responsible post-consumer content.

In short you can expect two-layer products from CityForest to provide:
